Snow Report 11-13-2012

Cam - Main LodgeIt’s Tuesday morning at 7 AM. Mammoth Mountain is open with 6 lifts and 10+ trails open and skiing and riding off the top.

Night time lows have warmed up over the ski area, so snowmaking did not run much if at all last night. Things should cool down for a run again tonight.

The top is open with areas from Cornice Bowl all the way over to the Paranoids being accessible.

Powder on DavesThe snow in these areas is now in transition state. We need more snow or more people to pack it out, a good SW surface wind could help as well.

Climax is not open at this time, we need a good 18-24 inches additional snowfall for that to open up.

Yesterday Patrol gave us access to fresh tracks on Dave’s, not bad for mid November. >>>>>>> Photo Proof >>>>

As more terrain opens you will get access to more powder, best bet is to use a pair of rock skis or a rock board. Again it’s very low tide out on Mammoth Mountain right now, my advice is to also slow down and use caution on and off the groomed trails.

BroadwayIf your into the Groomers and Corduroy, Mammoth Mountain has 10 runs groomed out every night for your enjoyment.

Our crew has been skiing and riding first thing in the morning on some very nice soft packed powder.

Just a note that the runs that are getting snowmaking will have a more firm pack surface, so be aware and be ready for those sections of the hill.

The Face of 3 has some good snow on it, just not a lot of base. Center Bowl and West Bowl are fun to ride, just stay off the sides of the runs were most of the rocks are. It will not take much snow for the entire face to be safe to ski again.

Center Bowl Chair 3

Chair 2 and The Mill should be open by Friday if not sooner. The Canyon Lodge and Eagle Lodge areas need 18 inches of heavy snow to be able to open. At this point in time there is no opening date that is set for those lodges and runs.

Chair 2

Snowman we will be back out on the hill the next couple days and will have a fresh video snow report out on Wednesday. We will have have a new photo album out late on Wednesday. For now check out all your favorite lines and the unbound with our Sunday Photo Shots Album.

What to expect this week…

10+ runs open with Top to Main Lodge Skiing.

Snow Conditions will be mid winter packed powder, to snowmaking firm pack, we will also see the wind blowing the snow around in Cornice and the lower Drop Outs for some fun.

Snowmaking will be cranking each and every night this week as well. So expect more terrain to open by late in the week. Possibly the Chair Two and The Mill area by this Friday.

The Unbound and Chair 6 are open with lots of fun stuff set up.
