Mammoth Snowman Report

25% off Black Tie Ski Rental Discount1-25-2017 – 8 AM – Good morning from Mammoth, we have clear blue skies this morning.

Currently we have a temperature at Main of 15 with a 5 up top. Look for highs today in the upper teens and into the twenties again.

Highs will stay that way until the weekend when we get into the upper 30s at Main with low 40s this coming Sunday.

The sun is still low in the sky so it might warm up, but the snow will stay in a nice winter pack.

After 20 feet in 23 days Mammoth Mountain is recovering and digging out. They did get the top open on Tuesday, but not 23. Today I would expect the entire lift system to be up and running again.

Roads in town are still being cleaned up, at this time we have R1 conditions.

A word to my readers, with all this snow in town it’s now impossible to make a turn or get out of a driveway without having to inch out blind into the road. SLOW DOWN and do not hug the right side of the road driving in town.

I would advise you stay off of all side streets and out of residential neighborhoods for the next few days. Many streets are 1 to 1 ½ lanes wide still.

The town is making every effort to get things back to somewhat normal after most of us got snowed in for real.

So the 20 feet we just got is a record for most monthly snowfall ever recorded in Mammoth Mountain’s history. We are working on some special t shirts and hoodies for this recorded breaking month. I will have a link to that swag on Wednesday Night Late.

Snow conditions: Out on the hill you will still find some powder out there today. A lot of the hill did get skied out on Tuesday, so you will be searching for left overs.

On the groomers this am you will find some perfect soft groomed out backed powder. The last snow that hit was so light and dry it grooms out real soft.

Now is the time to make plans to come to Mammoth and see and play in all this snow. Next weekend looks clear so you blue bird lovers get on up here.

Be ready for a big crowd on Saturday, if that is not your thing then hit up June Mountain 20 minuets north of Mammoth.

Storm Riders be ready next Wednesday into Thursday we could see 1-2 feet of fresh snow out on the hill.

Ski ya later… Snowman out!
