Mammoth Snowman Report – 3-25-2017

,

3-25-2017 – 4PM– Good day from Mammoth Mountain. We have about 6-12 inches fresh snow out on the hill today.

Sorry for the lack of reports and fresh images, Snowman picked up a virus that will not let go.

However today we had our Snowman fans send me some great images and an update on the snow conditions.

So here is the report I got so far, we have some fun powder out on the hill this AM. Everything from the trees of 15, to the face’s of 3 and 5 had some real fun stuff. Over on 25 and 9 things as expected start out fresh and fun and then got a bit thick this afternoon.

So far I have not got a report on the top, when I do it will be added in ASAP.

Should be some fun packed powder out of the Mill first thing this Sunday morning, with the Cornice and Scotties also all groomed out.

The base at Main is at the 175-inch mark, with over 300 inches over the top of the mountain. Expect all lifts and runs to be open until wind speeds are in in excess of 55 MPH.

Weather wise we have no big storm’s that I can see short, mid and long range.  The good news is there is still some systems like the one that just went thru in the offering well into April.

So we will be playing the spring game of warm to cold and back to warm and cold again over the next few weeks. Forecasting gets tough at this time of the year so the details out of the 3-5 day range are unreliable.

Sunday: A 30 percent chance of snow after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Breezy, with a southwest wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday Night: Snow likely, mainly after 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19. Windy, with a southwest wind 20 to 25 mph increasing to 25 to 30 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Monday: Snow showers likely, mainly after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 31. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Monday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow showers before 11pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 19. Blustery.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 37. Breezy.
