Snowman’s Mammoth Mountain Snow Report 9-30-2012

Good day to you all, we have clear skies with SW winds to 2 as of 8am and we have a temperature of 41 at the top of Lincoln at 10,000 feet.

Currently the SS Snow Study Site at 9000 feet show’s we have no snow on the ground.

This is the first time I remember in 20 years that the hill is completely melted out. With that said if you need a dose of massive snow check out these images from old mammoth 18 months ago.

Fall Weather We had our first frost of the year down by my house in Old Mammoth. Not many areas in town got the frost, but it’s a sign that what you all want is near….Snow!

Over the next few days we should have light winds and temperatures in the 40 for lows and highs in the upper 60s.

If your a weather nut we will get into some simple and detailed forecasts and chats at our Mammoth Mountain Weather Forecast web site.

Mammoth Mountain Winter Outlook

Winter Outlook looking at current models and analogs things are pointing to a better chance for less then normal snowfall.

Looking at 8 possible out comes 6 show less snow (about 70%) while 2 show almost 200% of normal.

The big question is when will the mountain have a base that will allow us to ski at least 90% of it?

With 70% of snowfall and some of it falling early we could really have a EPIC winter. That is way we choose Mammoth as our home town ski area.

Up on the hill crews are out daily getting the mountain ready for Falls first snow’s. Unbound crews have all their equipment out by chair 4 doing some painting for the up coning season.

Cabin Old MammothHere at the web site we will be spending our third winter in the cool cabin you see pictured.

Snowman and his crew will be running and updating three local sites that cover Mammoth Mountain, Mammoth Lakes and Local Area Weather along with Weather Guys Powder Outlook.

Get ready for Video, Photos and on hill reports several time’s a week right here from Mammoth Mountain, California. Snowman has been blogging out about the hill since 1990, why stop now.

Snowman Cam is Back! We will have multipal mobile web cams that are now wired up to give you all sorts of cool views from our location.

We are also looking for a full time sales agent that is ready to get to work ASAP. Call 760-709-1351 and ask for Steve or Jennie to apply today.

Pray for some early season snowfall here on Mammoth Mountain… Snowman out! 🙂
