11-23-2016 – 11 AM – Happy Thanksgiving. Mammoth picked up 1-2 inches of new snow over night.
As of 11 am the storm has moved on and we are left with a cloudy day over the hill with gusty winds.
The snow surface is a mix of packed powder and machine groomed man made snow. Fun turns out on the hill today.
As of 10:30 AM chair 2 and the Mill are now open, stump alley is a bit firm in spots so watch your step especially on the lower half of the run.
For the rest of today expect pt cloudy to mostly cloudy skies with a chance of a snow shower. Look for a high near 28 at Main Lodge today. Winds today will be moderate at Main 15-25 MPH, with gusts up top to 50+ MPH possible.
Thanksgiving Day is forecast to be clear and dry with highs in the 30’s, should be a good day to get some turns in before the Holiday crowds hit on Friday.
For Friday expect increasing clouds & winds during the day leading to a chance of snow Friday night into Saturday. Just light amount’s expected at this time, around 4-6 inches. Then more snow Sunday into Monday again with that system bringing in maybe a foot.
Hard to trust any forecast at this point with all the misses we have had this month. Snowman is trusting the windowcast more then anything at this point.

Snow Conditions Report and News From The Hill
The Unbound Park is now open after a massive snowmaking run. It’s still low tide in the park but they have some cool features set up along with 1 big jump. More will be coming out for the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend.
Bus Service the Red Line and the Blue Lines are now open for the winter season here in Mammoth Lakes.
Lifts open at this time: Chairs 1, 2, 3 and 11 along with G1 and G2.
Runs that will be open today weather permitting: Apple Pie, Broadway, Stump Alley, Rusty’s, Andy’s Double Gold, Saddle Bowl, Center Bowl, Christmas Bowl, China Bowl, West Bowl, Cornice Bowl, Dave’s, Climax and the Drop Outs.
Snowmaking has been running off and on all week long. Conditions look good for snow making nightly for the next week. There could be a couple days cold enough to blow snow all day long as well.
If your coming up for Thanksgiving, terrain is going to be very limited compared to last season. Leave early to get to the hill and be ready for a lot of people here on Holiday.
Snow Report Update 11-23-2016 – Out on the hill we currently have a base of 6-36+ inches from Main Lodge up to the top. Last night we picked up 1-2 inches of new snow and that made for some nice groomed packed powder this morning. Some people did go for the fresh, but way to low tide to be hunting off trail powder.
The snow surface on the groomers is now a mix of soft packed powder along with some firmer groomed out man made snow. You will also find some ice out there so watch your self out on the hill.
Up top they have been grooming Cornice and it is carving great first thing in the moring. Just beware of the first 100 feet it’s solid ice. Off of Cornice you’re going to need a good edge as there is some nice firm wind buff mixed in with some ice and suck pack.
Snowman will be back out on the hill on Thanksgiving and will post up a fresh photo snow report for you late in the day.
I hope to get our video reports rolling next week as well. Had a bit of a set back with a bad neck injury so a bit behind the last two weeks. Pray for snow and Happy Thanksgiving.
