Mammoth Snowman Update 12-9-2016

whitebark_mammoth_coupon12-9-2016 – 10:50AM – 6-10 inches of new snow on Thursday, unfortunately we had a rain snow mix at one point that went all the way to the top.

At this time most lifts are closed due to extreme ice on lift towers and cables.

Look for highs today in the 30s with winds at 35 – 50 MPH around Main with winds gusting to 70+ MPH over the top of the mountain.

Today it will be pt cloudy and then cloud up late in the day leading to a chance of rain and snow thru the weekend with up to 1-2 feet of new base snow at Main by late on Sunday.

Snow levels tonight will be up at 9000 feet or even higher. During the day Saturday snow levels are looking to drop down to 8500 feet and 8000 by Saturday night.

Looking at the long range weather charts for next week, we have colder storms on the way for Tuesday and late next week. Below I have posted the 10 day snowfall outlook from the GFS. It’s nice and colorful and shows 100+ inches of new snow for parts of the Sierra Crest over the next 10 days.

Snow Conditions Report and News from The Hill

We picked up 6-8 inches of heavy base snow on Thursday morning. Then the snow turned to rain and sleet and really messed things up.

Snowman’s guessing that the snow conditions are hard pack to ice out there, use caution if your heading out when the lifts open. I will have a update when we get word on current conditions. Pray for the chart above to come true…. Snowman out.

Lifts open at this time: Chairs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, and 11 along with G1 and G2. Lift hours this week are 8:30 AM to 4 PM.

Runs open: Apple Pie, Broadway, Stump Alley, Rusty’s, Mambo, Forest Trail, Andy’s Double Gold, Saddle Bowl, Center Bowl, Christmas Bowl, China Bowl, West Bowl, Cornice Bowl, Dave’s, Climax, the Drop Outs, the Wipe Outs, Scotties, Road Runner, Unbound Main and more!
