Mammoth Snowman Report

12-23-2016 – 11 AM – Good morning from Mammoth Mountain, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

At this time we have snow falling over the ski area and down into town.

The best news is that the snow falling is light and dry, perfect Christmas Powder.

Detailed 5-day Snowfall Forecast:

Fri 12/23 — Mostly light snow at times during the day which becomes heavy this evening and tonight Friday before ending early Saturday.  Accumulations by Saturday AM over a foot at Main and up to 2 feet up top.

Sat 12/24 — Likely dry AM, then snow flurries or light snow showers possible during the afternoon, ending evening.  Only trace accumulations expected.

Sun – Tue 12/25 – 27 — No snowfall expected.

Today highs will be in the 20’s with SW winds 15-25 MPH on the lower Mountain with gusts to 100 MPH over the top of the ski area today. Winds will back off to 25-35 MPH on Saturday.

On Saturday be ready for highs in the teens with a low Sunday of around zero. Bundle up and add in face protection.

This new snow will be light and dry and of course it’s Christmas Powder so get ready for a treat for Christmas weekend.

I would expect the Top to reopen on Saturday along with chairs 9, 13, 14, 23, along with G2. All that terrain will be fresh powder and with this being a cold storm the crew will not be having to clear lifts of ice so things should roll faster.

Snow Conditions Report

12-22-2016 – Snow Report Update

Snow condition: The groomers area great machine groomed packed power with just about all runs getting groomed nightly during the holiday season. Your best bet for fresh groomed is to get in line just before the lifts open.

Off the groomers you will find some nice skier & snowboarder packed out snow. Some area’s are getting a bit firm now but every thing is still very turnable not to firm yet.

Enjoy the holiday season and get ready for lot’s of powder days ahead! Snowman out
