Mammoth Snowman Report – 1-31-2017

25% off Black Tie Ski Rental Discount1-31-2017 – 7 AM – Good morning from Mammoth, we have clear blue skies this morning.

Things have warmed up big time with Main lodge getting up to a 48 on Monday.

Currently we have a temperature at Main of 41 with a 29 up top.

Highs today will be in around 43 at 9000 feet with a south west wind 10-30 MPH over the upper elevations. Night time lows will continue in the upper twenties to low 30s the next couple nights.

Look for wind buff possibly starting today with a great chance for moving snow on Wednesday with winds gusts above 50+ MPH.

A Winter Storm Watch is now posted, Storm Riders be ready Thursday into Friday we could see 1-3+ feet of fresh snow out on the hill.

Roads are now clear, please carry chains at all times and watch for black ice and packed snow on the roads in spots.

Snow conditions: All lifts and runs are now open on Mammoth Mountain on a Base of 150 to 300 inches of snow. We have some great packed powder on the groomers and skier and rider packed powder off trail.

Locals Choice take the Gondola to the top and then take Scotties all the way back to the bottom. It’s fast groomed out fun first thing before the crowds hit.

Scotties runs right into St Anton so you can ride the cord all the way back to the bottom Gondola.

Top of the World Climax

Gold Hill via Chair 9 – All the groomers leading down to chair 9 are perfect corduroy in the mornings. I was able to get 6 laps in before it got tracked up.   The Dragons Head and Back are all filled in, give them a shot on the next powder day they are open.
Havasu Grande – Easy to get in with all the snow, still have not got to ski it yet.

Another real fun run it go to the top of five and bomb down the comeback trail over to 3. China and Christmas bowl are now one big merged run and they are groomed perfectly into Coyote. This is a fun fast and steep groomed run, give it a shot today.
Terry’s Run is closed for racing a lot, but on Monday it was opened with perfect cord all the way down. Best part is there is never much traffic in here so you can ski or ride fast.  Looking out to St Anton with the top of 1 and 3 in the image. Look at all that snow, we will be skiing at least until the 4th of July. Took some laps over on chair 12, nobody was around so I got turn after turn on more perfect corduroy. The k2 wanted to make some big round turns as you can see in this image. Fascination for fast fun at Main and Chair 1. Saddle Bowl has become one massive run. West Bowl Hangman’s Bowl – Yes it is still steep and scary Half Pipe Competition this week

Now is the time to make plans to come to Mammoth and see and play in all this snow. Make sure to scroll down this page for some local coupons and for fresh images from last Tuesday.

Also to note we will have the Record Snow Design out this Wednesday. Sorry for the delay we been shoveling out for days, now that we have caught up we can finish the design with Craig Fine.

Ski ya later… Snowman out
