Mammoth Snowman Report – 2-20-2017

2-20-2017 – 6:21 AM – Good morning from Mammoth Mountain we have 8-12+ inches of new snow and it is snowing moderate too heavy at this time.

There is a winter storm warning in effect for today. Expect heavy snow above 7500 feet, snow totals will be in the 2-5+ foot range from Town to the top by Tuesday pm.

Winds will be increasing with gusts to 50-60 MPH with ridge tops gusts to 120 MPH. Get ready for blizzard conditions and white outs on local roads today.

If you heading out on the hill for some powder, there is good news wind wise. As of 7 AM the high winds have not showed up yet.

Up on 22 we are getting gusts 30 – 40 MPH, so looks like for the morning hours we could see 22 and 25 running for some steep powder skiing and snowboarding.

Snow conditions for today will be fresh powder to start the day, it’s a bit heavy so be prepared. Expect lower mountain lifts to run at first and then as they get avy control done we should see 22 and 25 open.

I would except chairs 3 and 5 to not be running today along with 9,13,14, 23 and G2. If winds stay at these speeds maybe, we will get lucky and get a few turns in on 3 and 5.

The base at Main just went over the 200-inch mark, with over 350 inches over the top of the mountain.

Roads are now R1 in town, chain up unless you have awd or 4×4 with M&S tires or better on.

Also to note the snow piles in town are 10-20 feet high, it makes it very hard to pull a car out into traffic. Please beware that people need to slowly inch their cars into the road to be able to see traffic while pulling out of local side streets and driveways.

Ski ya later… Snowman out

So we have started the set-up of our Mammoth Snowman Logo Wear and Gear. Right now we have Stickers, T-Shirts, Hoodies, and Mugs with our logo with the white backing on them. Lot’s more will be added over the weekend. Here is the link the Mammoth Snowman Store.
