Mammoth Snowman Report – 2-25-2017

2-25-2017 – 6:21 AM – Good morning from Mammoth Mountain we have clear skies that will give way to pt cloudy skies with scattered snow showers today.

Expect highs in the teens with lows near 7 tonight, winds will out of the west 15-30 MPH possible today.

Snow conditions for today will be machine groomed packed powder with wind buff conditions off trail.

Yesterday the wind blew just right and many of the runs had that floating sugary snow effect going off. It was a ton of fun and everyone out on the hill seemed to be loving it.

Please note it’s very cold out on the hill with highs in the teens and with the wind we have wind chills near zero so bundle up and wear face protection.

To get a better visual idea of what it’s like out on the hill Snowman got a bunch of images on Thursday. Scroll down to see all the snow on the hill along with a few shots from around the upper parts of town.

Up on the hill the base at Main is at the 210-inch mark, with over 350 inches over the top of the mountain. This is the deepest base for this date in time since the ski area began keeping records.

Check out this photo Flaskman got of the Chair 2 Snow Wall. Last time it was almost that high was in 2005.

Looking at the weather for the weekend we should have cloudy skies develop today leading to a chance of snow showers and a trace of snow.

Saturday night into Sunday we look to pick up 2-5 inches of snow from Main Lodge to the top of the mountain.

The long range outlook shows clear skies after that right into March 10th, so Mammoth will get a big break and lots of snow bluebird days to enjoy. It will be time to break out the sunscreen.

Roads are now R1 in up to Main with no chains required in town, watch for patch of snow on the roads along with black ice in spots.

Also to note the snow piles in town are 10-20 feet high, it makes it very hard to pull a car out into traffic. Please beware that people need to slowly inch their cars into the road to be able to see traffic while pulling out of local side streets and driveways.

Ski ya later… Snowman out

So we have started the set-up of our Mammoth Snowman Logo Wear and Gear. Right now we have Stickers, T-Shirts, Hoodies, and Mugs with our logo with the white backing on them. Lot’s more will be added over the weekend. Here is the link the Mammoth Snowman Store.
