Mammoth Snowman Report – 3-6-2017

3-6-2017 – 6AM – Good morning from Mammoth Mountain, we have mostly clear skies today.

Looking at conditions at this time we have moderate to strong winds on the hill. Many lifts are already under a wind hold or posted as closed.

Look for winds to today 55-65+ MPH at times. Hopefully they will back off at some point so the entire hill can open up.

The storm that went thru over the weekend left us with about a foot of light powder. Sundays session was limited due to very strong winds, but 4, 8 and 15 still offered up some fun snow.

Today expect highs in the 20’s with strong winds throughout the day. By Tuesday winds back down but gusts 35-45+ MPH out of the SW will be with us. Should be a wind buff day with floating sugar on top of the set up snow.

By Wednesday expect light winds with highs into the low 40s across the entire hill. Looks like clear blue sky’s through next weekend with just a slight chance of showers on Sunday.

Long Range Weather shows us that the big winter storms we had are over. We could still see a few small to moderate storms now into mid April.

Up on the hill the base at Main is at the 210-inch mark, with over 350 inches over the top of the mountain.

We will get some fresh photos for you on Tuesday when the wind backs off.

Snowman out!
