Mammoth Snowman Report – 3-7-2017

3-7-2017 – 6PM – New Photos down the page….

Good morning from Mammoth Mountain, we have mostly clear skies today.

Winds have backed off with gusts just 30-40 MPH out of the SW at this time.

Expect the entire hill to be open today and right thru the upcoming weekend under clear to pt cloudy skies at times.

The storm that went thru over the weekend left us with about a foot of light powder. That light powder has been buffed by winds for over two days now so expect it to be very set up. You’re going to have to search hard for the good stuff.

Monday offered up some powder and some boiler plate conditions in spots that the wind had stripped off the new snow. I would take it easy out there today and be careful of those firm spots.

The base at Main is at the 210-inch mark, with over 350 inches over the top of the mountain. I am sure there are spots with 400 inches.

Today expect highs in the low 40s and then on Wednesday low 50s. It’s going to feel like spring with packed powder under foot. You can bet the snow is going to get spring like down at Little Eagle.

Lows at night will be in the 20s, and winds will be breezy at times, but no more lift closures in sight.
Long Range Weather shows us that the big winter storms we had are over. The next chance for a 1-2 foot refresher will be around the 16-18th of March.

Snowman is headed out at 8:30 to get a fresh update on what the conditions are like. I will post a update late today.

Snowman out!
