Mammoth Snowman Report – 3-27-2017

,

3-27-2017 – Noon – Good day from Mammoth Mountain. We have about 1-3 inches fresh snow out on the hill today.

Skies will be clearing out today and that should last through Wednesday. Thursday there is a chance of snow showers with maybe a couple inches of fresh snow.

Snow conditions out on the hill are a mix of groomed out packed powder, wind buff with sugar on top and some fresh powder.

The base at Main is at the 175-inch mark, with over 300 inches over the top of the mountain. Expect all lifts and runs to be open until wind speeds are in in excess of 55 MPH.

Weather wise we have no big storm’s that I can see short, mid and long range.  The good news is there is still some systems like the one that just went thru in the offering well into April.

So we will be playing the spring game of warm to cold and back to warm and cold again over the next few weeks. Forecasting gets tough at this time of the year so the details out of the 3-5 day range are unreliable.

This Afternoon: A 20 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 33. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 19. Blustery, with a north wind around 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 39. Windy, with a north wind 25 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 24. Blustery, with a north wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 44. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph becoming northwest in the morning.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27.

Thursday: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 40. Windy. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
