Mammoth Snowman Report 4-14-2017

4-14-2017  7AM – Good morning from Mammoth Mountain, we picked up 5-10+ inches of snow from Thursdays storm.

At this time we have clear blue skies and a 26 at Main Lodge with winds at Main 15-28 MPH out of the SW.

Up top it’s 14 with winds sustained at 40 with gusts to 45 MPH out of the SW.

Snow conditions are all winter on the mountain this morning. Expect highs to climb in the upper 30s at MC Station, with low 40s a Main Lodge and upper 40s around Canyon and Eagle Lodges.

I would expect at least the lower half of the hill to start to springing up by mid day today. On Saturday things will warm up about 5-10 degrees and then will get more of the hill into spring conditions.

Locals Choice it to get out early starting at the mill and get as much of the fresh groomed snow you can get. The Faces of 3 and 5 along with the top will offer up some fresh set up powder turns. Snowman will be out this morning and I will report back on conditions later today.

Looking at lift operations for today it looks like 100% of the hill will be open. Mammoth now has a base of 200-350 inches from Main lodge to the top.

The Weather will be dry Today and Saturday with a chance for snow again late on Sunday and into Monday, then again Tuesday next week.

Here is the link to our detailed weather and powder outlook’s from the Mammoth Weather Guy.

FYI: Canyon and Eagle Lodges will stay open thru April 23rd and then lift operations will be out of Main Lodge. You will still be able to ski or ride down to Canyon, just have a car or taxi ready to get you out.

Lifts expected to run after April 23rd: Mid Week 1,2,3,6,11,23 G1 and G2. On weekends they will add in 4,5,10 and 12. The ski area will be open thru July 4th this summer.
