Mammoth Snowman Report 4-28-2017

4-28-2017 –7:42 AM – Good morning from Mammoth Mountain.

Currently we have clear skies with E winds up top from 35 to 48 MPH.

Main Lodge has a temperature of 27, with a 20 at the top of Mammoth Mountain.

Weather conditions, today will be clear and cool  today with high in the low to mid 30s. Winds will be east to north east with gusts to 50 possible.

For Saturday we will have decrease north winds during the day, to start we could see gusts to 50 MPH with very firm conditions. As the day goes on runs not exposed to that direct north wind will thaw with highs in the upper 40’s.

Sunday into next Wednesday will be perfect spring weather with highs in the mid to upper 50s and afternoon SW winds to 25 MPH.

Snow Conditions are now full on spring across the entire mountain. So you can expect the snow to be groomed out and firm at 8:30 in the morning.

By Sunday the full spring cycle begins, the snow starts to thaw out by 9 – 930 in the morning on the lower groomers that get direct sun.

With 3 1/2 months of spring and summer skiing still on the schedule it would be a good idea to head into Command Performance to get your skis resurfaced for spring snow.

You will glide and not stick to the wet snow. Use the coupon at the bottom of the page and save 20% off.

Lifts running this upcoming week (weather permitting) will be chairs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 23 and G1 and G2. Chair 5 will be closed be you can still ski or ride it off of chair 3 or via Climax or Dave’s run.

At this time Mammoth Mountain has a base from Main Lodge to the top of 185 to 350 + inches. Nasa did a laser of the base on Dave’s and came up with an amazing 60+ feet. Expect the top to have a base that is still there for the start of next ski season.

Snowman has heard there is a small chance that the ski area could stay open right into next season. If you have a season pass expect it to get cut off in August.

Here at and our sister site Discover Mammoth we will keep you update year round of what conditions and weather our like. We are going to also be bringing back out Discover Mammoth Today videos reports twice a week.

Have a great day and I hope to see you this spring and summer here in Mammoth Lakes and out on Mammoth Mountain. I always have free stickers in my pocket so just say hello. We will ski you later, Snowman out!
