Mammoth Snowman Report 5-12-2017

5-12-2017 – 6:42 AM – Good morning from Mammoth Mountain, we currently have cloudy skies with winds gusting up top to 100 MPH.

Weather conditions for today we expect highs in the 40’s with strong winds into the afternoon hours.

For Saturday looks to be about half of what they are today and we should have clear skies again.

Looking at Sunday into next week and major cooling trend is on the way along with more snow showers. Tuesday into Wednesday there is a chance for several inches to fall. However not much confidence in snowfall amount at this point in the season.

Snow conditions have converted to some nice spring skiing and snowboarding. The groomers start off firm and fast for some fun carving and then they have been quickly getting soft with some great corn snow.

The mountain groomers have been out early salting the runs so they have been staying nice all morning.

With the cooler temperatures moving in you will find longer periods of firm snow in the morning hours. By Sunday it might not even get soft with highs into the mid 30s.

Lifts running this week (weather permitting) will be chairs 1, 2, 3, 6, 11, 23 and G1 and G2. More lifts will run over the weekend like 12, 13, 14 and possible 4 and 5. There is still a base of 150-300+ inches out on the hill. Starting Monday lifts hours will be from 7:30 AM until 3 PM.

Here at and our sister site Discover Mammoth we will keep you update year round of what conditions and weather our like. We are going to also be bringing back our Discover Mammoth Today videos reports twice a week.

Have a great day and I hope to see you this spring and summer here in Mammoth Lakes and out on Mammoth Mountain. I always have free stickers in my pocket so just say hello. We will ski you later, Snowman out!
