10-20-2019 – 10 AM – Good morning, here is your Mammoth Mountain Weather Forecast & Long Range Outlook.
Next week we expect a ridge of high pressure to move into California and that will warm things up to above average highs for this time of year. The ridge will shut down any chance of making snow through next Saturday at least.
The good news is there appears to be a change now. With these warm temperatures ending by late next weekend and not lasting into November as we talked about last week.
Expect clear skies today through the week with highs in the 50s at Main Lodge. The highs down in Mammoth Lakes will get up into the 60s. The lows this week will be in the mid 30s for most locations.
Wind Forecast: we will have south west winds 10-15 MPH today with gusts possible to 30 MPH. For the rest of the week expect winds in the 5-15 MPH range at times out of the south west.
Watching the EU weather model the last few days we have been seeing a change with a new cold front headed towards Mammoth Mountain by late next Sunday into the following Monday.
The GFS is now following along with that thinking so maybe it will pan out for the snowmaking crew to start making snow.
Weather Guy and I are watching for any signs of snowfall and cold air. You can be sure we will let you know when there is any confidence in a pattern change.
