Mammoth Mountain and Eastern Sierra Weather

12-18-2019 11:36 AM – Good day everyone, there is a chance of snow showers today. We have wind buff conditions out on the hill, the wind is blowing just right for some of the runs to have free refills today.

Looking at the radar there is action to the west of Mammoth Mountain but none of the precipitation has made it into the Mammoth area yet.

Pretty much on track with the system washing out as it hit the coast. It does look like the rain west of us has made it a bit farther inland then thought. Let’s hope we get a least a dusting out of it.

Out on the hill today we have winds gusting to 25-45 MPH out of the SSW to SW, highs at Main Lodge are in the low 20’s with the low teens up top. Skies have been cloudy to pt cloudy so a much better day then was forecasted. 

Looking beyond today Thursday and Friday will have sunny skies with highs in the mid to upper 30s at the 9000 foot level around Main Lodge. Winds will be in the 5-20 MPH range out of the SW so a none factor for your day on the hill. 

The weekend will be highlighted by an incoming storm system that should bring likely Snow to Mammoth Mountain by Sunday. Then Monday into Christmas Eve Tuesday there could be more snow showers.

Right now it’s looking like this will be a weaker system with several inches in town and 5-10 inches possible out on the hill. 

Christmas Day is looking clear as of today, but that could change with it being 7 days out. The next system beyond appears for the 26th of the month now. That one could bring several more refreshing inches of snow.
