3-13-2021 9:35 AM Good morning everyone, we have crystal clear blue skies from Mammoth Mountain down to Bishop today. Going to be a great weekend to get outdoors and enjoy the Eastern Sierra.

Checking the current conditions up at the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. The mountain picked up a solid 18-24 inches of light and dry powder this week. The base at the 9000-foot level is now at 69.8 inches.

Up top, there are strong NE winds this morning at 50 MPH with gusts to 65 MPH. The temperature up at 11,053 feet is a chilly 12 degrees. Wind chill factors at the very top are now down in the -14 degree range. Better have some real solid face protection dropping in off the top today.

High temperatures at the Main Lodge today will be in the mid-30s with low 40s down at Eagle Lodge and into the town of Mammoth Lakes. On Sunday expect the high temperatures to be up about 4-6 degrees.

If you’re going to be outside in the lower elevations Crowley will be in the low to mid-40s this weekend with Bishop into the upper 50s into the low 60s.

By late on Sunday thru Monday, there is a Winter Storm Watch posted for areas above 6000 feet.

Snowfall amounts will be in the 6-12 inch range on Mammoth Mountain with 3-6 inches possible for the Mammoth Lakes and 2-3 inches for the lower elevations down to Crowley Lake. Not expecting more than a dusting down to 5000 feet.

The rest of next week looks to be clear with sunny skies and highs into the upper 30s to mid-40s. It will feel like spring down in the Little Eagle area with winter hanging on from Main Lodge up to the top.

The long-range outlook has more snow in the forecast off and on thru the rest of March so expect some more powder possibly by next weekend. WeatherGuy posted a nice update on Friday afternoon, here is the link to read his full powder outlook for the rest of the month.

If you have been waiting to come up for soft snow now is the time to head up to Mammoth Lakes and enjoy these last days of winter snowpack before we move into spring.

Ikon Season Pass Sales are NOW ON, here is the link for all the details. If you’re buying a pass for the first time they will be good on Mammoth Mountain starting April 12th. If you’re deferring this season’s pass you will be able to start skiing and riding on April 20th.

Mammoth Mountain Snow Report: Powder, Powder, and more powder. What a week it was with full-on winter powder skiing and snowboarding.

Conditions this weekend off the groomers will go from Powder Saturday Morning to Wind Buff late Saturday and into Sunday. Looks we will have a Riders of the Storm day again on Monday with a Blue Bird Powder day setting up for Tuesday.

Expect these mid-winter type conditions to be around the next couple of weeks with fresh snow at times. However, with it being mid-March the sun is much higher in the sky now so when it’s full-on bluebird expect the runs down at Eagle and some of the runs at Canyon Lodge to have some spring snow.

Looks like a great couple of weeks coming up to be on the hill before spring fully sets into the area.

I do expect the season to last through Memorial Day so make your plans to get up here soon for a taste of winter and then some endless spring corn as the weather warms up in April and May.

Ski ya later, Snowman…
