May 28th, 10:35 AM Good Friday morning to you, and thanks for stopping by MammothSnowman.com…..

We want to wish you a Happy and Memorable Memorial Day Weekend, let’s Remember Those Who Served so We can ALL Enjoy our Freedoms! 🙂

If you’re coming up for the Holiday Weekend you will be able to Ski, Snowboard, Bike, Fish, Walk, Run, Golf, Climb, and Hike.

Nothing like Memorial Day weekend when you can get the grand slam of both winter and summer sports in on the same weekend.

Weather Forecast

Taking a look at the weather forecast the warm-up that we forecasted has arrived in the Eastern Sierra. High temperatures will level off today into Saturday. Temperatures will then start to rise again on Sunday into next week.

Over the weekend a weak low-pressure system will add just enough instability for there to be cloud build-ups and a slight chance of a few thunderstorms. By next week high temperatures will feel like summer time. Looks like the first strong ridge of high pressure is heading our way.

Temperatures over the next few days: Main Lodge highs will be in the low 60s with the low 70s in Mammoth Lakes and up to near 90 in Bishop during the afternoon hours. Highs come up 3-5 degrees on Sunday and will continue to rise into next Wednesday.

Night times low be in the 40s for the high country. With upper 40s to lower 50s for the lower elevations down to Bishop.

Winds this week into the weekend will be out of the SW with light winds for Mammoth Lakes and the lower elevations. Over higher elevations, you can expect moderate winds at times during the afternoon hours @ 15-25 MPH with gusts to 25-30 MPH.

Road Conditions

All roads into the Mammoth Lakes Basin are now open along with all the campgrounds. The road to Devil’s Post Pile and Reds Meadows is closed. Sonora Pass is opened while Tioga Pass remains closed. All other USFS Roads are Open.

Fire Weather: Fire Restrictions are up by the USFS. That means NO Campfires, Smoking, or BBQs anywhere in the forest except an established campground with an on-site host. You can still use a stove to cook but use extreme caution out there.

You still need a fire permit to use the stove so be prepared to get fined if you do not have one. They are ramping up patrols and will be writing citations this summer. The Town of Mammoth Lakes has also issued a ban on campfires in town.

Mammoth Mountain Snow Conditions

Spring skiing and snowboarding are on thru Monday with 7 lifts and over a dozen open runs.
