Mammoth Mountain & Eastern Sierra Weather Forecast

Today’s Weather Story and The 10 Day Outlook

Saturday 10-2-21 @ 3:32 PM We are currently under a ridge of high pressure in the Eastern Sierra. That’s bringing some of the last warm days of the early Fall into Tuesday.

Beyond that time frame starting Wednesday we will start to see some clouds move in temperatures drop and winds will pick up a bit out of the SW.

All this change is from a low that is forecast to drop down off the west coast of California.

The low looks to have some spitting taking place mid-week on both the EPS and GEFS models below. That splitting will slow the start of any possible rain or snow for Tuesday and Wednesday that we talked about a couple of days ago.

As of now, it looks like Thursday into Friday we could start to see some light rain and snow in the higher elevations with a slight chance of rain showers in the lower elevations. Snow Levels will be around 9000 feet to start all this fun late Thursday.

Over next weekend the question is if the low has cut off what track will it really take. Today’s version has it tapping a bit of moisture Saturday / Sunday possibly, that could add up to a couple of inches of wet snow next weekend if this outlook holds out.

This will be a fun week to be watching and reporting on the weather. We have been watching this possible change for over a week. Let’s pray it all comes thru, the forests could use a nice drink of freshwater. 🙂
