Recreational Weather Forecast – Mammoth Mountain & the Eastern Sierra

April 11th, 2022 at 12:35 PM – Taking a look at the current conditions, at the Sesame Street Snow Study Site and you will find there are 3 inches of new snow with .46 water content so far.

Up top, the wind is out of the SW @ 55 MPH gusting to 82 MPH with a temperature of 17 degrees.

Down at Main Lodge, the temperatures are sitting at 23 with no wind data at this time. At the top of 22, the winds are gusting to 68 this hour. Most of the ski patrol data we use is offline right now.

The heavier snow is sticking to the snow surface as one of our snow reporters just sent me a text clip video of what it’s like, you could not hear the hard pack underneath.

Looking at the HRRR model that just came in it has an additional 7-9 inches of snow falling before this system ends. Going to be interesting to see how much the winds do affect the final tally of snowfall.
