Good morning on this Friday, April 29, 2022, @ 10:40 AM – You will find clear skies with just a few high clouds at times over the Eastern Sierra today.
Winds have backed off to more reasonable levels over the higher elevations, with light to calm winds from Mammoth Lakes to Bishop.
Weather Summary: An endless series of weak progressive lows will keep moving thru the area every 2-3 days over the next 10-day period.
Right now the EPS model shows there are lows lined up to come thru Sunday, Tuesday, and then again late next week.
That trend will keep the area at or below average temperature-wise and that will help to hold the snow longer in the high country.
Winds will continue to blow moderate to strong over the higher elevations each time one of these lows comes thru.
Snowfall from the first 2 lows will be nothing and then late next week there could possibly be a dusting to an inch or two of snow.
If you’re going to be out on Mammoth Mountain on Friday expect sunny skies with highs in the mid to upper 40s to low 50s at Main Lodge.
Winds today will be in the 15-35 MPH range from MC Coy Station to the top. And should decrease a bit as the day goes on.
For Saturday there will be more mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid to upper 40s at Main Lodge with winds increasing to 15-30 MPH out of the SW with gusts 35-45+ MPH by mid-day.
