Mammoth Mountain Snow Report from the Snowman

Local’s Snow Report for Mammoth Mountain on Wednesday, May 18th, 2022 @ 2 PM

Conditions out on the hill: Spring Conditions are in full force with a firm snowpack at 7:30 AM. The softer spring corn shows up fast with the warm days and the sun nearing its highest point of the year.

Up Top, the Cornice is getting groomed nightly and so is Scotties. Off those runs, there is a mix of flat spring corn along with some bump sections. There is a nice bump line in Upper Drop Out and a decent line down Sign Line and on Climax.

On the Face of Three, the bumps over in West Bowl are large with a couple of really good lines going off from 11 AM to 2 PM. Center Bowl is being groomed nightly still so a nice run for those of you who don’t want to hit the bumps.

Saddle Bowl, World Cup, and Gremlins have great coverage with some fantastic spring corn later in the morning hours.

You will notice that early on Gremlins and St Anton are closed for ski team training. Those ropes get pulled shortly after 10 am daily, the snow is perfect when they get dropped.

Out of Main Lodge, you can still ride on Fascination, Andys Double Gold, and the Unbound Park. St Anton also has tons of snow if you want a long groomer run. The Mill and Stump Alley are also still up and running at this time.

Chair 11 Discovery is still open, however it’s getting thin so this might be the last week. I would check with the ski area before making plans to ski or snowboard on green trails after this Sunday.

We heared there was no extension and now Mammoth Mountain has announced they plan on staying open until at least June 5th.

So as of now, there is no official closing day set yet, yahoo.

The base at Main Lodge is around 15-20 inches with 0 inches at the Snow Study Site at 9000 feet. At MC Coy Station there is 20 inches with 38 inches up top.

The Cat Crew has been pushing snow into Broadway nightly now. If you watch the main lodge webcams in the evening you can check out what they are doing to keep Broadway going. Yep moving lots of snow.

Starting the last Friday of this month you will be able to ski and ride early and then get some laps in on your Mountain Bike on the trails below Main Lodge. Check out our Mountain Bike Report for more information.

Lifts running this week and next weekend are 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 11, 23, and the Upper and Lower Gondolas. (Weather Permitting).

Lift hours are from 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
