Hiking Mosquito flats into Little Lakes Valley.

Mosquito flats is located at the top of Rock creek Canyon.

A beautiful drive up through the canyon past rock creek lake. Great views of the lake before the road narrows

and leads you to mosquito flats.

Parking lot fills up fast in summer months, try getting here early for a good spot!

There is some overflow parking and extra bathrooms, you’ll just have a short walk up the road to get to the trail head.

Mosquito flats is a popular spot for fishing or is perfect to just enjoy the scenery.

The trail head starts at the back of the Mosquito flats parking lot. If you take a left across the river there is a moderate 2 mile

round trip hike to the Eastern Brookes Lakes.

Following the path straight will take you into the little lakes valley.

This is the most popular hike in the valley, stunning views and easy walking!

The hike begins with a short moderate climb, the Crankcase Grade. This is the most challenging part of the hike, but is over pretty fast.

At the top of the grade the trail splits. Left trail will take you through the heart of

the Little Lakes Valley. You can hike all the way to Morgan pass, making this hike an 8 mile round

trip, or you can keep it shorter and stop at any of the many lakes along the way and turn around.

The right trail is a moderate hike, it climbs up Mt Starr to Ruby lakes and the Mono Pass.

Amazing views of the whole valley along the switchbacks!

Rock creek also has a pack station, they offer horse rides all through the rock creek area. Mosquito flats being one of them!

This is a great place to get out for a hike next time you’re in the area.
