September 1st, 2022 @ 10:43 AM – Good morning everyone, Mammoth Mountain and the high country will be the place to be with all Summer activities 100% open right thru the Labor Day weekend.

If you’re looking to escape the heat this weekend try some early morning laps in the mountain bike park and then hit up one of the local lakes for a beach day. There are a bunch of ideas of What to Do listed down below the fold on this home page.

Mammoth Weather is going to be warming up now for the next 6-10 days. Highs by the weekend are expected in the mid to upper 70s at the resort levels at 8900 feet. Highs in Mammoth Lakes look to reach the mid-80s into Monday. Excessive heat warnings are up for 395 in the Owens Valley and for the Bishop area.

For those of you planning an Outdoor Adventure right through the Labor Day weekend… get out early and avoid the afternoon heat and Sun. Hydration will be even more key over the next week so drink lots of water before, during, and after your adventures.

Mountain Bike Report: All trails and Service roads are open at this time. With the current forecast, our advice is to ride the high country and get out during the morning hours. It’s also key to bring extra water, the sun is just blazing hot under this high-pressure dome over the area, so stay hydrated.

For those whose who want to ride out of the Bishop area, I would advise a sunrise ride or just forget it and head to the high country.

Looking at September expect temperatures to start to cool off around the 10th for some nice early Fall Mountain Bike weather. The final week and weekend in the bike park are looking nice.

For the full details on Mountain Biking in the area check out our full report at this link.

Mammoth Mountain Winter Upgrades: Out on the hill crews are working on a massive upgrade to the snow-making system.  So far they have torn out the old snowmaking liner at the MC Station Snowmaking Reservoir. That area has all been regraded and it looks like crews are close to laying in the new liner.

You will also find big upgrades taking place at Woolly’s Snow Tube Park with a bunch more lanes opening this winter. In time this area will also be home to the Summer Adventure Center.

As far as the 2-year project to replace chair 16 and chair 1 to 6 packs, I have not seen any action on those projects yet. Tried to check out the Mill the other day, but the area was roped off due to the snowmaking project laying new piping in the area.

PS: Took a week off from outside adventures, but fear not, next Tuesday & Friday I will be back out getting fresh photos and video clips. That will be the plan all this Fall, hope to keep you entertained with some fun and gorgeous content.  🙂
