Mammoth Mountain Weather Forecast & Discussion

February 11th, 2023 @ 3 PM – A cut-off low is dropping down along the California coast at this time. Cloudy skies with some light snow showers along with some moderate SW winds have been the weather story for today.

Over the next 24 hours, the cut-off low will drop south and will move east thru Baja into Mexico. As the low drops further south on Sunday skies should be clear out over Mammoth and winds will be back into the NE flow.

The next low will be an inside slider and quickly drop into the area late Monday night into Tuesday. This one will usher in much cooler air to the area along with some more snow showers for the higher elevations.

The cold air hangs around thru Wednesday with the north flow in place and then by next Thursday the next coastal hugger will take the same path as the cut-off low we have in the area today.

If you’re going to be out on the hill on Sunday expect sunny skies with temperatures around the Main Lodge in the upper 20s to lower 30s. Wines will be NE around 20-30 MPH with gusts over the top in the 40 -50 MPH range.

On Monday expect sunny skies once again with temperatures around the Main Lodge in the low to mid-30s with west winds 15-30 MPH above the 9000-foot level.

By Tuesday there will be a 40% chance of snow showers with 1-4 inches of snow possible from the Main Lodge up. Temperatures will be cold with highs in the teens along with moderate N to NE winds.

Mammoth Mountain 10-Day Outlook

2-11-23 – Over the 10 day period there will be 3 chance for light snowfall with one of those days being today Sunday. The next chance will be Tuesday as an inside slider makes it way into the area and then again a chance for snow next Saturday.

The main weather story as of now will be the cold air that moves into the area later Monday night into Tuesday. The small amount of snowfall that is in the forecast should help to keep conditions great and not allow the pack to get to firm.
