Mammoth Mountain Photos from the week of 10-20-2024
Over the last week, Mammoth Mountain has received two dustings of snow. The first turned the ground white above the 9500-foot level, and the second down to the Main Lodge. At the Snow Study Site, there was .11 precipitation from the first system, and a trace of snowfall from the second was recorded.
Major progress has been made at the new Broadway Express since I was on the scene a couple of weeks ago. Both the top and bottom stations have their windows installed. From what I saw this morning, they seem to be about a couple of weeks from finishing up.
When I was on-site at the project this morning, crews were in the process of building and installing the chair lifts. They are making significant progress, with half the carries built and on the line.
Over at the Unbound Express, a new drive and control system is being installed, and the top and bottom lift shacks are being rebuilt. Chair 3 also got the same upgrade, with a new lift shack at the bottom of the lift.
If you have not heard, significant upgrades were and are still being made to the Stump Alley / Mill Area snowmaking system over the summer. Brand new Super Puma Fan Guns were installed top to bottom. That will allow the Mill Parking to open quicker with much better early-season snow conditions on Stump Alley.
The snowmaking team has been out on the hill over the last week setting up for their early season snowmaking runs. If you look closely at the webcams out of Main Lodge and MC Coy Station, you will see many of the guns they set up.
