Mammoth Mountain Weather Forecast & Area Forecast Discussion

Mammoth Mountain Weather Forecast

Thursday, November 7th, 2024 @ 10:30 AM A warming trend is underway, as yesterday’s inside slider is well SE of the area this morning. Over the next several days, ridging will take control, and temperatures will warm up.

The good news is that the ridge is progressive and will not be setting up for an extended stay. By early next week, the next slider will be westward enough to bring in cool air and several inches of snowfall.

3-5 Day Short-Term Forecast: Skies will remain mostly clear with just a few clouds in the area at times into Saturday.

Midday temperatures at the Main Lodge (8,900 Feet) will be in the lower 50s.Overnight lows will be in the mid-20s tonight and then lower 30s into Saturday night.

Winds today will be N to NE at 5-10 MPH with 15-25 MPH gusts around the Main Lodge. Up top wind gusts at times will be in the 50-60 MPH range.

Mammoth Mountain Weather Discussion

Days 1-7 Forecast Discussion: The last inside slider to go by Mammoth Mountain is now well to our SE and will be replaced by a progressive ridge that will warm up the area into early Saturday.

Later on Saturday, the next weak low cuts off the coast, sinking southward and dying out. The effects on Mammoth will be increased winds and possibly a few clouds with some cooling.

By Monday, the following inside slider moves a bit more westward, bringing more cold air, gusty winds, and, this time around, some light snowfall. There could be 1-3 inches to help out the snowmakers.

Then, expect a warm-up for the middle of next week with limited snowmaking possible.

Days 8-14 Fanasty Outlook Discussion: Out around day 8, the ECM has changed to a much cooler pattern with snow showers at times. We will take a deep dive into that pattern in the next update.
