Mammoth Mountain Weather Forecast
12-22-24 – A weak cold front will move over Mammoth Mountain into the early afternoon hours. The radar at 9 AM shows the main front moving into the Mammoth area, which is much further south than expected just 24-48 hours ago.
Snow levels are way up there today, but you can still expect 1-3 inches of fresh snow to fall above the 9500-foot level. The following system will affect the area late Monday night into Tuesday evening, with snowfall amounts at the Main Lodge looking to be in the 4-8 inch range.
If you’re out on the hill today, expect cloudy skies with snow & rain showers until around noonish. Midday temperatures today will be in the mid-to upper 30s from Canyon Lodge to Main Lodge. Winds will be out of the SW at 5-10 MPH with gusts to 15 MPH.
On Monday, expect clear skies with mid-day temperatures in the mid-40s. Winds will be out of the SW at 5-10 MPH with gusts to 15 MPH.
For Tuesday, Christmas Eve, expect more snow that could be moderate to heavy at times. Snow levels will start around 8000 feet and then drop to nearly 7000 feet by the afternoon.

Mammoth Mountain Weather Discussion
12-22-24 @10 AM—The first of three weather systems coming in this week is now in the area. This first one is weak and warm, with higher snow levels than anyone wants to see right now. The second system will be a bit colder and looks to come in later on Christmas Eve morning, as shown on the ECMWF below. A third system is in the cards for next Thursday, with light amounts of refreshing snowfall expected.
