Long-Range Fantasy Outlook
Unfortunately, the Mammoth area is moving into the dreaded January thaw. This one should be around for at least the first 21 days of January before there is a possible change to snowfall again.
The good news is that long-range ensembles show a change in the pattern around the 21st of January, with some snowfall to end the month. Ensemble models also show that possible snowfall will last into mid-February.
Of course, we look at the longer-range data to see weather trends, not specific snowfall amounts. Long-range confidence in any outcome is always going to be lower.
Looking back to last season, things were looking a bit grim weather-wise right now. Then the tide turned, and there was lots of snow from February into early April.
