Mammoth Mountain Weather Forecast & Discussion
February 8th, 2025 Saturday @ Noon
Mammoth Weather Forecast: Enjoy the dry and cool weather through Monday afternoon. Tuesday, a “slider” system will bring even cooler temperatures and a chance of light snow showers, potentially starting late afternoon or early evening. Accumulations are expected to be light, possibly a few inches.
A more significant storm is on track for Thursday and Friday, originating from the west and carrying significant AR moisture. The current forecast models indicate the highest snowfall potential from Mammoth Mountain southwards into the Southern Sierra and LA County Mountains.
Remember, storm tracks can change rapidly, so check back for the latest updates before heading up for those powder days next week!
If you’re out on the hill on Sunday & Monday, temperatures at the first chair will be in the lower teens; midday temperatures will be in the mid-30s from Main Lodge down to Canyon Lodge. Over the Mid and Upper Mountain (9500 to 11,000 feet), midday temperatures will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s.
Winds at the 9000-foot level will be out of the Southwest at 5-10 mph. Up top winds are expected to be out of the Southwest to West 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 20-30 MPH possible.
By Tuesday, expect increasing clouds later in the day. Temperatures at the first chair will be in the lower teens; midday temperatures will be in the low 30s from Main Lodge down to Canyon Lodge. Over the Mid and Upper Mountain (9500 to 11,000 feet), midday temperatures will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s.
Winds will increase again on Tuesday as the inside slider starts to affect the area; wind speeds of 20-40 MPH could be expected from the N to NE.

The next storm system moves next Wednesday into Friday, with 16-32 inches of snowfall on the ECMWF ENS as of Saturday Afternoon.

Longer-range fantasy outlook models suggest more winter in the second half of February and into March. It looks like this will be another back-loaded winter. Yahoo, Let’s Ride!
