Mammoth Mountain Weather Forecast & Discussion
February 11th, 2025 @ 12 PM …WINTER STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY AT 6 PM. FROM TOMS PLACE NORTHWARDS TO MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN… This next system looks large and should be the most significant snowfall event since late November.
Mammoth Weather Forecast: Clear skis will be in the area one more day before the next system starts to affect the Mammoth Area and the 395 Corridor later Wednesday Night.
When will the Snowfall start? According to the most current weather models, between 12 AM and 5 AM Thursday. If that timing is correct, Thursday could be one of those “Riders of the Storm Days.” Of course, the wind will have a say in what lifts can run.
Snowfall amounts out on Mammoth Mountain look to be in the 3-5 foot range from Main Lodge to the top. Snowfall ratios will average out around 10-1. Winds will back off on Friday, and some colder air will be in the area, so a higher ratio of snow will fall at that time.
For Mammoth Lakes, 2-3 feet of snow is possible, with more in the upper elevations of town. Traveling on 395 and around Mammoth Lakes on Thursday or Thursday night is not recommended due to the HEAVY snow in the forecast.

If you’re out on the hill Wednesday, expect increasing clouds and winds during the day.
The temperatures at the first chair will be in the teens. Midday temperatures will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s from Main Lodge (8,900 Feet) down to Canyon Lodge.
Over the Mid and Upper Mountain (9500 to 11,000 feet), midday temperatures will be in the lower to mid-20s.
Winds at the 9000-foot level will be out of the Southwest at 5 to 10 mph. Over the mid to upper mountain, winds will be Southwest at 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
On Thursday, expect moderate to heavy snow from sunrise until sunset. Snowfall amounts around the Main Lodge are forecasted to be in the 24-30 inch range, with 2 1/2 to 3 feet above the 9,500-foot level.
Winds at the 9000-foot level will be out of the Southwest at 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Over the mid to upper mountain, winds will be Southwest at 35 to 45 mph, with gusts as high as 60-80 mph.

Mammoth Weather Discussion
Yahoo, there is a nice big winter storm to talk about today… A robust system originating from the west that is carrying significant AR moisture is on track for late Wednesday night into midday Friday.
This next system looks large and should be the most significant snowfall event since late November.
Here are the model QPF (Quantitative Precipitation Forecast) numbers from this morning’s updated model runs. GFS 5.60, ECMWF 4.10, ECM ENS 4.10, GEFS 4.8, NBM 5.00.
Those would be some big numbers over a 12-hour time period; it will be interesting to see if they really pan out.
Hopefully, it’s Mammoth’s turn for a direct hit this time. My confidence right now is about a four on a scale of 1 to 5, with five being the strongest.
The powder during the second half of this storm should be a bit lighter, so Friday and Saturday next week look great for You powder hounds.
Pray for Snow, Steve Taylor – the Mammoth Snowman
