March 27th, 2024 @ 7:15 AM – Good morning, and thanks for stopping by MammothSnowman.com. Bluebird skies with mid-winter packed powder will be the rule out on Mammoth Mountain Today. Look for the SW winds to pick up again as the day goes on, with snowfall tonight into early Thursday expected.

Currently, out on the hill, there are clear skies; the temperature at the Main Lodge is 25 degrees, with an SW wind at the Top of Chair 1 at 48 MPH to 53 MPH. At the top of the Mountain, the temperature is 13 with an SSW wind at 28 MPH gusting to 32 MPH with a wind chill of -7.

At the Snow Study Site (9000 Feet), the base is 93.6 inches, with 34.23 inches of seasonal precipitation and 290 inches of snow this season. Up Top, the base is around 150 inches, with 120 inches at MC Coy and 3-5 feet down at the Canyon and Little Eagle areas.

Travel & Road Forecast: All roads are open and clear this morning. Tioga & Sonora Pass are closed for the Winter Season. For current webcam road conditions on 395 and 203, visit our road conditions page at this link.

Mammoth Mountain Weather Forecast

If you’re heading out on Mammoth Mountain today, expect clear skies. Mid-day temperatures from Main Lodge to the top will be in the upper 20s to mid-30s, and winds will be out of the SW at 10-20 MPH. Down at Canyon and Eagle, mid-day temperatures will rise into the upper 30s to lower 40s, with light SW winds expected.

Here’s the link to Snowman’s Full Recreational Weather Forecast. Ted’s Powder Forecast will be back tonight around 6 PM, he’s been out on vacation the last week.

3-26-2024 – Conditions out on the hill are a mix of mid-winter packed powder on the groomers and wind buff and transitional snow off the groomed. The weather will warm enough today to bring a bit of spring to the very lower runs down at Canyon and Eagle Lodges, but the rest of the hill will stay in mid-winter form.

On Wednesday, as the winds start to pick up again, you’ll see a return to the soft, wind-blown sugar snow around the Main Lodge and on the mid and upper mountain runs.

For those of you wanting some more fresh powder, it looks like low-end powder turns by mid-day on Thursday, with much deeper powder for Saturday and Sunday expected from the second stronger storm system forecasted for the upcoming weekend. If you’re one of those people who love spring corn snow, it’s going to be a couple of weeks before the mountain breaks out of winter and the real corn season begins.

If you’re wondering if it’s worth a trip up right now, I would say yes; Mammoth has great snow and a decent base, and the entire Mountain is still open.

What’s up off the Mountain? In the Mammoth Lakes Basin, the Tamarack Cross Country Ski Area is 100% open and groomed to perfection.

There is plenty of snow down in Mammoth Lakes for snow play and snowman creations; if your kids are sledding, please make them wear helmets. All the sledding lanes and snow play areas are open at Woolly’s Tube Park.

If you want to get out of the snow zone, there is a lot to do in the Bishop area. The Disk Golf Course at Mill Pond and the Bishop Golf Course are open. Mountain Biking is also a blast right now, with all the trails and OHV areas in great shape from recent rains.
