Steve Taylor – The Mammoth Snowman: began skiing at Mammoth Mountain in 1969, he got his first Mammoth season pass in 1985 and ripped off 86 days while being home-based in La Canada.
Steve made the move north with his wife Jennifer from La Canada full time in 1990 to be closer to the slopes and run his fathers business in one of Mammoths first home-based business.
Steve was one of the first work from home ski bums in ski country. Dads customers were all in Southern California, with Fax, 800 Toll-Free Lines and the new internet it was a dream come true. You could ski every day and still make a great none resort income.
Over the last 30+ years, Snowman has spent countless hours studying and learning about mammoth mountain weather and snow conditions first hand.
Snowman started blogging this information back in 1990 on the old Mammoth BBS system, then the RSN Forums and then on to MammothSnowman.com in 2004 with his Video & Photo Blog reports. (No YouTube back then)
“I started the website because I wanted to get skiers from the Los Angeles area excited about coming up so I wouldn’t have to ski alone,” Steve explained. “Now I have 300,000+ new friends, thanks to MammothSnowman.com.”
Snowman still has his videos and photos featured on TV Stations here in Mammoth, along with KTLA, ABC, CBS. FOX and NBC News outlets local and nationwide.
As of August 2017, Steve has left his other marketing position and moved into a full-time role running the web sites, producing content and building his Mammoth Snowman community that is growing rapidly every day.
Ted Schlaepfer – CCM – The Mammoth Weather Guy
We met The Weather Guy about 10 years ago on the Mammoth Mountain Forum. He checked out MammothSnowman.com and offered to do a Powder Forecast.
Those forecasts are now responsible for many people getting multiple powder days on Mammoth Mountain over the years. People email us saying they plan their days off around The Mammoth Weather Guy Powder Forecasts.
Ted’s Bio: Always fascinated with the weather, skiing was just a natural extension of my love for snow and rain. I started skiing at age 5, first discovered Mammoth in 1979 as a youth, and have been a regular visitor since the late 80s.
Jennifer Taylor – CFO – Mrs. Snowman came to Mammoth back in 1990.
She helped set up and run one of the first successful home-based telecommuting business in Mammoth Lakes, The Superbo Water Heater Company out of La Canada. (run from our cabin in mammoth lakes)
Now she’s running the books and handles all the cash flow on the business side for the websites.
Her second role is designing the new t-shirts that we put out and working with Sun frog the t-shirt MFG.
Jennie is also the person who did our original Snowman logo that is on all the stickers we pass out.
She also helps keep the dream alive here at MammothSnowman.com & DiscoverMammoth.com.
Bob Sweigart – In House Music – Bob has now been with MammothSnowman.com since 2005.
His music has played up front and in the background, in over half the videos we have put out on the internet and on TV.
From the Discover Mammoth Today Show to the Snowman’s Mammoth Mountain Video Snow Report & Stoke Video’s, Bob leads the way with his music.
You can check out more of Bob’s Tunes at his web page at Riff World.
