Mammoth Mountain to Bishop Mountain Bike Report
6-9-2019 – Sunday @ 4 PM – Mountain Biking is getting off to a slow start in Mammoth Lakes to start June. We have had a big winter that has lasted right into Memorial Day weekend. Elevations below about 8000 feet are now snow free and rideable.
Forest Service dirt roads out of Shady rest are rideable as are many of the roads off the scenic loop. To the east of 395 everything is snow free so pick your favorite road and jump in.
Lower Rock Creek Trail is the best you’re going to get in single track riding at this time. The trail is in great shape if you’re riding watch for both uphill and downhill riders. Yes, there are also hikers on this trail so beware.
The Mammoth Mountain Bike Park is still closed but will be opening up next Friday with Downtown from Chair 4 down and Shot Gun.
With the big and late winter lower mountain trails will slowly start open the next couple weeks. Mid and Upper Mountain Trails from Main up will take at least a month to melt out.
Bishop and Round Valley are heating up now, riding down in the valley early mornings will be the call as highs move into the 90s now for the foreseeable future.
For those who have been around a while, if you want to pull off a duplicate of the plumbline 7500 to the top of the White Mountain now is the time.
Snowman will have an update late this week on the current conditions.
