Mammoth Mountain to Bishop Mountain Bike Report

6-22-2019 – Saturday @ 4 PM – Mountain Biking Summer weather has arrived and is finally melting the snow for Mountain Biking Season. However, elevations from 8500 feet and above still have to much snow for riding at this time.

Forest Service dirt roads out of Shady Rest are rideable as is all of the roads off the scenic loop. To the east of 395 everything is snow free so pick your favorite road and jump in.

Lower Rock Creek Trail is the best you’re going to get in single track riding at this time. The trail is in great shape if you’re riding watch for both uphill and downhill riders. Yes, there are also hikers on this trail so beware.

The Mammoth Mountain Bike Park (from the ski area) is open from F stop (9AM-6PM). Open trails include Downtown, Shotgun, Smooth Operator and the lower portions of Big Ring & Bullet (access via the fire road from Smooth Operator). All uphill access is via the bike park Shuttle from The Village (last shuttle of the day is 5:30PM).

Bishop and Round Valley are heating up now, riding down in the valley early mornings will be the call as highs move into the 90s now for the foreseeable future.

For those who have been around a while, if you want to pull off a duplicate of the plumbline 7500 to the top of the White Mountain now is the time.

Snowman will have an update late this week on the current conditions.
