Mammoth Mountain Snow Report from the Snowman

4-15-24 – Spring Conditions have taken over Mountain wide with firm and frozen snow early and then softening up by around 9:30 to 10 AM on the lower Mountain and by 11 AM on the rest of the hill.

Make sure to have your skis and snowboards waxed up at least every other day moving forward. You can get a FREE hot wax at Fast Ski Sports in the Vons Mall, just tell them the Snowman sent you.

I would also have them add some add some texture to your bases. This helps wet spring to move off your boards better creating less of that sticky feeling you get in the spring snow season.

The Spring Snow Base at the Snow Study Site (9000 Feet) is 99.5 inches, with 41.38 inches of seasonal precipitation and 350* inches of snow this season. Up Top, the base is around 150 inches, with 120 inches at MC Coy and 40-50 inches down at the Canyon Lodge and Little Eagle Lodge areas.

Both Canyon & Eagle Lodge are Fully Open and Operational through this Sunday. After that the Canyon Parking Area and Chair 17 will remain open Fridays into Sundays until the snow melts.

Chair 1 is Now Closed for the Season. They will be replacing this old retrofitted Yan lift with a Brand New Chair that should open just in time for the holiday season 2024.

The Ski Area Plans to run out of Main Lodge and the Mill area through Memorial Day. For the Mammoth Mountain Bike Park there is no set opening date yet for the lower mountain runs. Photos And Videos Needed NOW

Below the 7500 foot level all forest roads and trails are now melted out and ready for hiking, mountain biking and 4 x 4 adventures. Lower Rock Creek Canyon Trail is perfect for those looking for a hike or mountain bike ride during these early spring days.

If you want to get into the full Spring zone, there is a lot to do in the Bishop area. The Disk Golf Course at Mill Pond and the Bishop Golf Course are open. Mountain Biking is also a blast right now, with all the trails and OHV areas in great shape from recent rains.

Fishing season opens county-wide on Saturday, April 27th, 2024. Crowley is over the top full, so beware, shore camping and fishing are out in some areas once again this spring.
