Mammoth Snowman Weather Forecast

Wednesday, May 26th, 2021 @ 3:15 PM

Updated Summary Taking a look at the Weather Forecast the warm-up that we forecasted as arrived in the Eastern Sierra. We are back to some nice warm spring days now from Mammoth Lakes down to Bishop.

Over the next couple of days, highs will come up an additional 3-5 degrees and then will level off and hover about average for this time of year through Saturday.

Over the weekend a weak low-pressure system will move thru the area kicking off a few build-ups with a slight chance of a shower developing near any stronger build-ups.

By Sunday into Memorial Day, a new warming trend will begin as a very strong ridge of high pressure starts to move towards the area. By this time next week, it’s going to feel hot with the first real taste of Summer for the Eastern Sierra.

The long-range extended fantasy outlook in the 10 to 16 day period shows a low-pressure system developing off the California coast. Hopefully, all that system brings with it is some cooler air. I am praying for no dry thunderstorms anywhere in the state.

As we move into June it’s time for our Air Quality and Fire Weather Watch Updates to start.

We are currently under fire restrictions in the Town of Mammoth Lakes and out on the Inyo National Forest.

There are no Campfires, BBQs or Smoking allowed now out in the open. Even if you have a fire permit, it is not valid again this season unless we get some rare epic rain event in the area.

If you’re traveling here this Summer beware that when and if we get thunderstorms you can expect the fire season to start and any fires that lie to the west to southwest of the area will bring smoke in.

If and when there are any fire starts or smoke-outs happening I will be updating that news on the home page ticker every 12 hours. Let’s hope and pray that does not happen again this year.

PS: My next weather update will be early next week unless there is a change in the forecast.
