Monday, September 19th, 2022 @ 8:22 AM – Good morning, you will find pt cloudy skies in the area with a dusting of snow in the backcountry.

Mammoth Mountain received a dusting of snow as well, but the ground is still too warm to hold it. Within the next 24-36 hours you should see some white on the ground via the webcam at the Summit.

This week is looking like a great time to get out for a hike or a mountain bike ride, just layer up with the chilly daytime highs now. Early Fall is one of my favorite times of the year up here.

Now that the weather has cooled and we are in the latter half of September you will notice there are some trees just starting the change over now. I will be out on Tuesday 9/20 driving around to see if I can spot any changes in the high country. If you have never seen the Fall Colors this might be the year to come on up and check it out.

Mammoth Weather: Checking around the area the temperature at Main Lodge the temperature is 39. Down in Mammoth Lakes, the temperature is sitting at 47 with winds to 7 MPH gusting to 17 MPH out of the SW. In Crowley Lake, the temp is 52 with 64 in Bishop.

For today expect pt cloudy skies with moderate winds and highs at Main Lodge and in the Lakes Basin in the upper 40s to low 50s by mid-day, lows tonight will be in the mid to upper 30s.

Video Player: Our Mountain and Weather Video reports will be returning this week with updates on current upgrades, the weather, and what to do this Fall. We will add in some Fall Color drives when the timing is right.

For now, there are 38 videos on the playlist below along with the Mammoth Mountain Live Webcams. You will find 4K, HD and SD videos on the list. Enjoy the show!

Mountain Bike Report: For those of us who love to peddle, it’s game on out in the Park now with no ticket needed. I would avoid areas of construction, as crews are working hard and are not expecting you in their work zones.

All Forest Trails are open and the Fall weather is perfect for a ride on all trails from Mammoth Lakes to Bishop.

For the full details on Mountain Biking and the conditions in the area check out our full report at this link.

Mammoth Mountain Winter: Just 53 days until winter operations start. There is a ton of work taking place right now with most of the focus on the snowmaking system repairs and upgrades.

To learn more about what’s happening with upgrades and the ramp-up to winter operations check in with our Mammoth Mountain Locals Snow Report page.

Things to Do into in Mammoth Lakes & the Eastern Sierra

9-19-22 – The Fall Recreation season is on up here in Mammoth Lakes and across the Eastern Sierra. The Summer crowds are gone now and mid-weeks are slow during this time of year called the shoulder season. If you can it’s a great time to come up and experience the area at this time of year.

Up at Mammoth Mountain, the Bike Park, Scenic Rides and the Adventure Center are closed for the season. You can still get out on the hill for a Mountain Bike Ride or a Hike.

The Fall Color Season is just getting underway in the very upper elevations with a slow-down canyon turn expected into mid to late October. Already seeing some overnight lows in the long-range forecast that will help to start the change.

We will be going out every Tuesday looking for Fall colors and reporting back each Tuesday starting on 9-20-22. Areas that will be covered will be Bishop Creek Canyon, Rock Creek Canyon, MC Gee Creek Canyon, the June Lake Loop, and the Mammoth Lakes Area. Here is the link to our Fall Color Report Page.

Here are some select events to check out the next couple of weekends if you’re in the area.
