Mammoth Mountain Photo Snow Report – 12-5-2023

Checking in on the Snow Conditions on Tuesday, I got out at the first bell, and most of the surfaces I hit had some fun corduroy. There were definitely some firmer hard-pack sections out there, along with some little floaters rocks at times.

Overall, the base on the groomers has got a bit firmer over the last week. What’s keeping the runs that are open and in good shape is the advanced grooming equipment the hill uses.

Is it worth it to ski and ride right now? I know I am having fun whenever I go out and don’t want to leave when my legs give out. You will have to judge if it looks worth it to you after checking out the photos and videos that have been posted here over the last week.

Here are some photos and current reviews of the runs I skied on Monday.

Cornice Bowl: There are some fun, firm, fast turns on Cornice right now, and with the lack of a crowd on the hill, you get to carve a nice fast turn. I did several laps here on Monday and saw no rocks. While coverage is low, the groomed section of Cornice is good to go.

Broadway: Of all the runs open, Broadway still has some of the best snow on the hill. Do beware of the bare spot on the skier’s lefts just as the run drops into the final Main Lodge section.

Andy’s Double Gold: The snow surface in here was nice, with the best snow on the skier’s right. Just watch yourself as a race fence line is set up on this side. Taking Silver Tip to Andy’s was worthy of several laps.

Gremlins Gulch: Low Tide Adventure Skiing on wind-buff snow with softer snow on top. It’s always fun to ski Gremlins, and it’s really interesting when the snowpack is this low. Fun stuff just watch for rock.

Saddle Bowl: Groomed flat and perfect with no icy spots, just firm, fast fun down the Saddle. Try linking it nonstop with Mambo all the way down to the bottom of 2.
