Mammoth Mountain Recreational Weather & Travel Forecast

4-10-2024 @  8 AM – Good morning; the roller coaster of Mammoth spring weather is upon us now. The area will go from high pressure with spring weather and then back to late winter with another low heading our way Friday into the weekend.

How much snowfall is on the way? Up to now, we have been talking about 6-12 inches from the Main Lodge to the Top. However, models this morning are trending to the lower totals, so hopefully, they will get wetter again over the next 24-48 hours.

Next week is looking a bit chilly for the area as an inside slider with bring cool and breezy conditions to the Eastern Sierra. The position of this slider is such that it looks like it will be dry with no snowfall expected.

The current snowline is about 7500 feet, so it’s still full-on winter recreation and snow time in all areas above that elevation. Below that, it’s springtime from Crowley Lake to Toms Place and down to Mill Pond and the Bishop Area.

If you’re traveling to the area at this time of year (April into May), the weather is such that you should start thinking about skiing and riding during the morning hours and then Hiking, Fishing, Disc Golfing at Mill Pond, or even Mountain Biking during the afternoon hours.
