Eastern Sierra and Mammoth Mountain Mountain Bike Report

Eastern Sierra Mountain Biking Report

August 10th, 2022 – The upcoming days should offer up some great Mountain Biking from the Mammoth Bike Park to the Inyo National Forest trails. The high deserts get hot fast so get out by 7 AM or you’re going to roast. Nothing like the park and the higher elevations for a cooler ride mid-day August ride.

August 8th, 2022 – Eastern Sierra Mountain Biking Trails picked up some really good rainfall over the last couple of weeks.

Last Friday’s event was the topper with 1-2 inches of rain falling in a 12-hour period over the Mammoth Mountain Bike Park. That amount of rain brought some serious gully washers and ponding of water on many of the trails.

Below the Mountain, all areas picked up some decent rain from .70 in Bishop to over 1 inch in Mammoth Lakes and also down to Sunny Slopes.

By Saturday morning trails area-wide had absorbed the moisture and the riding was amazing. I personally rode Chip Munk Canyon on Saturday morning and it was cool out with the best dirt I have seen in 6 months. Tackey Fast and Fun, Climbing was swift with the loose dirt and sand all firmed up. Yahoo

With a new week upon us, we might have a couple more brown powder days this week. Today and Tuesday offer up the best chances for rain on Eastern Sierra Mountain Biking Trails.

There could be some more gully washers and flash flooding with rainfall rains per hour in the 1-2 inch range the next couple of days.

If you’re planning on riding the next few days get out early and don’t get caught off guard, be aware of building thunderstorms while you ride. I will be in the mountain bike park on Tuesday morning, I will report back with some fresh images and video on Wednesday PM.

Up at the Mammoth Mountain Bike Park, they are running Gondola 1 and 2, Chair 11 Discovery, and the Village Mountain Bike Shuttle. Fridays into Sundays they also run chair 16 and chair 2 starting at 10 AM. Bike Park hours are from 9 AM to PM daily.

The plan as of now is to keep the Mountain Bike Park open well into September, the fine details of what will be running will be released soon.

Let’s hope and Pray for good Air Quality this Fall as there is some great riding right up to the first day of skiing and riding out on the hill.

Been out getting a ton of content this Summer out in the Bike Park. Below are the 1st edits on some of the trail videos we are working on. Lot’s more to film via POV and via walk-down stop-and-go shots over the next 6 weeks.

I want to thank Mammoth Mountain for providing access to the hill this Summer. Been a ton of fun riding up and down the lifts, always just used to get a peddle pass, ha never again.

Ride on Snowman…
